Book Review: Modern Calligraphy by Molly Suber Thorpe

Modern Calligraphy , by Molly Suber Thorpe, is full of instruction and inspiration about modern script calligraphy.  There has been a resurgence in the craft of beautiful text – you will see many examples all over Pinterest and creative blogs.

If you would like to try your hand at making quotes for wall hangings, and downloads or printables, or hand-made invitations and thank you cards, this book will set you on the right path.  Within it's pages you will find a fresh take on fonts with examples and instructions on how to create them, projects you can try, plus lots of inspiration.

Script is also a great addition to mixed media pieces. Below you will see a piece I'm working on where I added in a quote by Pablo Neruda. Another project I want to try from Molly's book is writing script with watercolours. Also, of note, she gives instructions on how to digitize your work so it can be printed for stamps, business cards, menus, etc.

Modern Calligraphy is due out on September 24th, 2013, but you can pre-order it in the link through Amazon.
