Scrapbook Rooms & Studio Ideas

Today we are going to show you the studio space of Kimberly Congdon.  Kimberly is lucky to have about 1000 square feet of scrapbooking heaven! Here she tells us some information about her crafting space:

About My Space

"I have pretty much the entire basement.  In the basement I have several rooms to myself.  (a painting area, bathroom, scrap storage area, my personal scrap area and the classroom)  First I have a Scrappin Storage area.  It is full of cabinets and drawers & tons of counter space.  I store my bulk items, punches, chipboard, misc. items in that room.  I also use it as my area to wrap gifts.    I have an open area in a corner of the basement that I use as my own personal scrappin & creative space.  My students have to walk through this area to get to the classroom so I really do have to have it clean and organized since it's the first room they come to.

Next to my work area there is the classroom.  I have it set to seat 10 at all times, but I can set it up to seat more if needed.  I hold classes and workshops at my "classroom" at least once a week.  I have been teaching scrapbooking, stamping, and paper crafts in my basement for almost 3 years.  I have been scrapbooking for 20 years.  Every Tuesday about 8-10 women show up for a 3 hour class.  I also teach at Hobby Lobby, Michael's Craft Store, my local Museum, Country Club, schools and private classes.  I am soo busy with classes I don't have much time to spend on my own projects, but when I do get a chance to work, I end up organizing something instead.

I also have a wet bar area.  We use this area for painting, inking, distressing, glitter, etc…  I also have a microwave and refrigerator in this area so we can snack.  I have a bathroom right next to the class room with 2 more sinks in there.  The only area down there that my family has is the small kids playroom and a family/tv room.  If for some reason someone needed to bring a child we have the space for them to play or watch tv and it's right next to the class room with large open windows looking into the area.

Interesting Facts about my Space

We have lived in this house for 3 years, and the basement has flooded twice.  Each time we have had a flood my scrapbooking area has become larger.  We have had to replace the carpet each time and had to repaint, and move everything.  I now store my 68 finished albums high off the ground.    My husband worries that if we have another flood am I going to take over the last 2 rooms.  I just hope we stay dry, I like the basement just the way it is."

Thanks Kimberly for sharing your space with us!  For more photos, please check out her blog here.

I am soooo jealous! I have a scrapbook room but it is my daughters bedroom. It is about 10×12. I can’t imagine having the whole basement. You are so lucky! I wish I could come scrap with you sometime, LOL!
