New Renee Zellweger Movie Features Scrapbooking

ScrapScene is excited and honoured to share an interview we had with actress, Siobhan Fallon Hogan!  Siobhan plays Blanche Gunderson, the best friend and mentor of Renee Zellweger’s character in the new movie, "New in Town."  "New in Town" features scrapbooking as one of the themes and Siobhan’s character plays an avid scrapbooker!  The movie is set to be released today, January 30th!

Now here is our interview:

ScrapScene: Are you a scrapbooker?

Siobhan Fallon Hogan: No, but my daughter has recently taken it up. I learned a lot about it from the movie.  The prop guy was amazing and he gave me all the accoutrements and I was able to give them to my daughter.  I could tell right away that scrapbookers are very artistic, organized and neat.  I am defiantly none of those, so I quit while I was ahead!  My daughter is very organized and since taking up the habit she has organized all the family photos.

ScrapScene: How did you prepare for your role as an avid scrapbooker?

Siobhan Fallon Hogan: I, first of all, realized that a scrapper likes being in her own home and interested in others.  They also love to have fun and share a little gossip.  So those traits and qualities are something I already embody. I also have a very close friend who’s sister in law is a huge scrapbooker so I learned a lot from her by asking a lot of questions.

ScrapScene: What was your favorite thing about playing your character Blanche Gunderson?

Siobhan Fallon Hogan: Oh there are so many things.  She is extremely interested in others.  She carry’s a scrap book around to help bring other people into her world.  She even showed the fast track woman her scrap book off the bat!  She is also a warm person, she cuts to the chase, she has a strong faith.  She also seems like a person who could be walked all over but she stands up for herself… she is a total fighter

ScrapScene: Do you think scrapbookers will enjoy watching “NEW IN TOWN”; what do you think we will take away from it.

Siobhan Fallon Hogan: I truly believe they will LOVE it! Nothing can be better than seeing something you are familiar with.  For example, my husband loves rugby and he would just love a Rugby movie, it is the same thing.  I also believe this film was really done in a great way and shows scrapbooking in a positive light.  It really makes it an attractive, fantastic, artistic hobby.

Thank you Siobhan for taking the time to answer our questions!

Here’s a little more about Siobhan Fallon Hogan:

"SIOBHAN FALLON HOGAN (Blanche Gunderson) has been seen in several well acclaimed television shows and hit blockbusters over the past fifteen years. She began her career on stage in her own character driven one woman show, Bat Girl. Shortly afterwards, she was cast on Saturday Night Live. Other television credits include a recurring role on Seinfeld as Elaine’s roommate, Alec Baldwin’s sister on 30 Rock and a number of guest spots.

The redheaded character actress has had many memorable roles in films such as Men in Black, Forrest Gump, Charlotte’s Web, Holes, The Negotiator, Daddy Day Care and Baby Mama. Although she began in comedy, Fallon has a following in dramatic foreign films, notably Lars Von Trier’s Dancer in the Dark and Dogville. She also appeared in Michael Haneke’s Funny Games."
