Spotlight on a Designer: Virginie Wurtz

Virginie Wurtz hails from France!  She was one of our 5 runners up in our Truly Trendy contest and joins us for this episode of Spotlight on a Designer.  For previous interviews, please click here.  To see Virginie’s winning project, please click here.  To take a look at more of her work, please visit her blog here.

Below are the questions we posed to Virginie along with her answers:

{ScrapScene} How long have you been scrapbooking?  What got you started?

{Virginie Wurtz} I’ve been scrapbooking for 2 1/2 years. I was pregnant and was looking for a way to keep memories of these moments. But, I always loved doing crafty things since I was a little girl.

{ScrapScene} What inspires and motivates you to create if you get a creative block?

{Virginie Wurtz} I spend a lot of time (too much??) on the web, on FlickR galleries, etc.  I love the colors of these kind of galleries, this is very inspiring for me. But I think every little thing around us can be inspiring, we just have to open ours eyes.

{ScrapScene} What are your favourite techniques and products?

{Virginie Wurtz} I love doing mini books and find new ways to make them. I’ll try not to do the same thing twice. I think it’s quite boring. I love thinking, imagining about my creation a long time before doing it. I don’t use any particular techniques, but I’m fond of stickers like 7 Gypsies and Creative Cafe. I could put them everywhere, they are the perfect embellisment for me. I also love stamps like Kesi’art, Catslife Press, etc.

{ScrapScene}  What are your most essential scrapbooking tools?

{Virginie Wurtz} My scissors are my most essential tool, because I love cutting out the pattern of the paper. Papers are the basic, and often they offer a lot of embellishment.

{ScrapScene}  What do you think is the hottest trend in scrapbooking? What do you predict for future trends?

{Virginie Wurtz} In your contest Truly Trendy, you quote most of the hottest trends, but the most important for me is nature like trees, birds, etc. I don’t have any idea of the future trends, maybe more urban…I would love to know !

{ScrapScene} Do you have any tips for getting published?

{Virginie Wurtz} Sorry but I don’t have any tips, it’s just a great surprise for me anytime!

{ScrapScene}  Are there any other Designers that inspire you?

{Virginie Wurtz} A lot of designers inspire me, no less than 137 seeds are in my bloglines like Keisha Campbell, Ali Edwards, Christine Middlecamp, etc! In France, I admire the graphic look of Kesia‘s LO or the colors of Nahte‘s ones.

{ScrapScene}  What project are you working on now?  Do you have any sneak peeks to share?

{Virginie Wurtz} With a couple of friends, we have just created a new blog: zoom sur le scrap.  It’s a blog for challenges based on pictures and scrapbooking. There will be a challenge every 15 days, some tips about taking pictures, how to use your reflex, how to use Photoshop or GIMP. The first challenge ran up to the 29th of May. And also I’ve just finished a mini book for an article for the French magazine Esprit Scrapbooking. (See sneak peek of project at bottom of this post.)

{ScrapScene}  Please tell us a little about your scrapping space.  Do you have any photos to share of it?

{Virginie Wurtz} I don’t have a scraproom.  My scrapping space is my dining table, so we eat only in the kitchen 😉
