Donna Downey’s NSD Class

donnadowneyheadshot.JPGI went to a Donna Downey class at an LSS, Bizzy B‘s, on Saturday for National Scrapbook Day. The class was called, “Celebrate Life.” Here is Donna’s description of the class:

“If you have ever uttered the dreaded, “I’m just not artistic.” or “I wish I could be more creative like ______,” then this is the workshop for you! In one hour, this fast paced, free spirited, and no rules class is perfect to get those creative juices flowing. Technique and style are the focus as you channel your inner Picasso to create a 2-page multi-photo layout that celebrates thedonnadowneycelebratelifeclassproject.jpg everyday goodness in your life.”

Donna’s class sample is shown at right. This class has inspired me to use more paint in my scrap projects and also “no holds barred” – anything goes, be yourself and make it fun. I am really liking the look of paint in scrapbooking lately. Take a look also at Donna’s great (fast-paced) videos on the subject on her YouTube page. Inspiring!

donnaandme.JPGWhat fun she is! My first impressions of Donna are firstly, that she is so cute and has such a great sense of humour. She is very articulate in her instruction and is good at encouraging and inspiring everyone to create. It’s no wonder she is so successful with so many published books, a great looking “Inspired” event, her own line of camera bags, and more! My only complaint is not even directed at her – it’s at myself. Why did I only sign up for a one hour class?!

I asked Donna if I could post her picture and she said yes! So, here she is with me. Now no laughing, but if anyone knows how to digitally make the baby weight disappear ‘like that’ from me, I would really appreciate it! 🙂 Maybe I’ll have to follow Donna’s lead and try Nutrisystem. She looks great!

Here are my takes on Donna’s project:

Wait! Ooops, sorry. Gordon! How did you get in here? (Actually we saw Mr. Ramsay signing books at a local bookstore last weekend and yes, he is a hottie in real life too.) Ok, now here’s my project from Donna’s class. By the way, the cool word stamps I used are from Red Lead PaperWorks. They have such great sayings like, “No work, all play,” and “Happy everything.”

Looks great! I was supposed to go to the Friday night class, but I hurt my back, so my SIL (Christine from Scrap Time) went in my place. 🙁
