Giveaway! Online Class with Debbie Hodge!

** This Giveaway is now over **

NYCScraps is giving away a pass to Debbie Hodge’s upcoming “Scrap Yourself” class to a ScrapScene reader! This class is valued at $25 and begins March 7, 2008.

Ten sessions will cover ten scrappable aspects of you, with subject and journaling prompts as well as example scrapbook pages to get you thinking and scrapping. Each session includes 4 variations on one sketch (12”x12”, 24”x12”, 8.5”x11”, 17”x11”) that will work for one-page scrappers as well as two-page scrappers. In addition to the class materials, participants get access to a private forum and gallery for sharing class work, and daily interaction with Debbie and the class designers.

debbiehodgescrapyourself.jpgThe class designers are: Erin Campbell-Pope, Paula Gilarde, Katrina Kennedy, Sharyn Tormanen, and Shaunte Wadley. They will create brand new pages based on the class topics and sketches to provide design and subject inspiration.

You can get more information about the class here and download a sample class here (portion shown at left).

For your chance to win one (1) spot in Debbie’s class, please comment to this post. Check out the sample class and tell us about one of your habits that would be a great scrapping subject. Deadline is Friday, Feb 29/08 at midnight EST . (One entry per person, so please only comment once). A winner will be announced on Saturday, Mar 1/08.

Every night, no matter how tired I am, I have to sit up in bed and either read or play a game on my Game boy. Yes, I’m 60 and still play with a Game Boy! LOL! This is probably worth scrapping.
Enjoyed your last class and would love to win this one!

I have a terrible, horrible, no good Diet Coke habit. I’m trying to kick it, but it would be fun to scrap about it!

This class looks like a lot of fun.

    Thanks for this wonderful giveaway!

I try to multi-task sometimes when I scrap. I open my desktop and surf online while cutting patterned papers or cardstocks. I blog hop while inking/distressing my paper or chipboard. I practice digital scrapping while waiting for the paint on my chipboard shapes or letters to dry 🙂

So I think I have the weirdest thing to scrap – but after reading the sample class I think that is ok! lol. Growing up my mom was the cleaning nazi – well not really but as a teenager I thought so…the positive is that as one of her daughters, I can go into the dirtiest of places and make it like new – just by cleaning. Some families have secret recipes for food – my family has secret recipes for cleaning – I started a layout for the secret cleaning recipe book over a year ago but never continued – maybe this class would be just the thing to get me started again…My first recipe is here –

Spending too much time on the computer is probably my worst habit and playing games on Neopets.

I have done two classes on NYCscraps and their handouts and ideas are brillaint. Great value for money.

How cool would it be to win a spot in Debbie’s latest class? I’m completely addicted to my Itouch and almost every Friday, sometimes more, I put my Ipod on shuffle and post to my blog the first 10 songs that show up. It’s such a fun thing to do and I’ve been wanting to scrap that habit for sometime now.

I have a terrible habit of not finishing a project that I start!! I hate it and I really do try to finish things, but once I set it aside, I have a really hard time getting back to it. I still have 7 months on calendar pages to do for my sons’ that were their Christmas gifts!! I desperately need some inspiration—after 5 years of scrapbooking dirt bike race pictures for their calendars, I am running out of ideas! This class would be great.

Thanks for the chance to win!

I am really bad about getting the laundry folded… I have a habit of waiting till we are all running out of clothing options and then doing it all one day… To get myself to fold the laundry I strip the bed to wash sheets and pile ALL the unfolded loads on the bed. (great pic!) We cannot go to bed that night until I have folded and put away all the laundry and then make the bed! It was a really late night last night! LOL This class sounds great! Thanks, Erika

I just checked out the sample class and it looks fantastic! I’m so excited for this! My habit? I have a tendency to shove anything and everything into my large Vera Bradley purse…I could definitely see a layout highlighting just what exactly is in there at this point in time!

This class looks great! Count me in for the drawing. I think I might scrap my bad habit of stacking piles of magazines and papers on top of every flat surface of my house — maybe if I were to look at the finished page I’d be sufficiently motivated to get rid of them!

I love to take baths, but only have time on the weekend – the rest of the time it’s fast showers. eEvery week, my DH asks me when I want to take my bath. He always cleans the tub so it’s ready for me to just turn on the water. And he goes to buy me a latte!

I have one habit I’d love to think about a bit more. Every day as I drive the kids from school I keep up a running commentary on the other drivers. I’m usually a pretty laid back girl, I love my kids and I’m really not a bad driver – scrapping this habit would help me explore why I do it and how to stop! I’ve never taken an online class before and would love to try it – I think my kids would thank you too!

Something that I always have done & never even thought of scrapping till now is my big purses & my bags. I always have a huge purse with tons of stuff in it. Seems to have gotten worse with having kids. I also almost always bring a bag with me, with books/mags, food, drink, etc. Whenever we go anywhere: beach, museum, vacations, etc I pack way to much. My parents used to joke that I would be a bag lady because I wouldn’t go anywhere without a bag of toys, lol.

What a fun class! My habit – I’m an afternoon snacker. Around 3pm I get the munchies. I start rummaging through the cupboards for something sweet – candy, cookies, cake, anything with lots of sugar! I keep trying to kick the habit and substitute healthy snacks but I just can’t do it. I need this. My body needs it. It’s my one indulgence every day. A sweet, quiet moment I can savor all to myself. So, this is me, the afternoon snacker. Care to join me?

Hmmm…which habit to “confess”? Well, one is my constant need to check my two email accounts – Sometimes I have to turn my computer off to get anything done (and then I’ll wish I had it on to print off some journaling or something along those lines!). Guess I better wait to work on this habit until after the contest ends -haha. 🙂

My habit is coffee……and I love pulling up to the Java place and placing my order for a skinny Latte’! Nothing like it! I have scrapped this. In fact it was in Debbies last class, Scrap your everyday life. My layout was called Cool Beans. I would love to win this class! I haven’t missed many of the nyc. I’ve already signed up for it, but if I won, I would give it to my scrapping (online!) friend.

The daily habit that I would like to scrapbook actually includes both my husband and me. We both work at home AT the computer all day. We have two dogs and we live in the country. Several times a day we “go to the end of the driveway”. It’s just a chance to take a break, vent to each other if needed, and get the dogs and us a little bit of exercise. Since we live in the country our driveway is a little longer than most. Sometimes if we haven’t taken a break in awhile our little dog, Zoie will start to stare at us until we look at her and then she starts to bounce around. This is to let us know it’s time to do “an end of the driveway.” And our favorite comment when we get to the end of the driveway? “Yep, it’s still here.”

I would love to take the class. One habit I could scrap about would be my need to clean my craft space before I work. I cannot ever work in a messy space. At times I think this need may even impede my creativity. I can spend more time cleaning and organizing than crafting. Oh well. La di daI
