Altered Dress Forms

donnadowneydressform4.jpgHave you noticed a few scrappers collecting dress forms lately?  They are becoming quite the rage! You can use them to drape embellishments over, alter them or leave them just as is.

Donna Downey shows some of her collection here.  The ones in that photo are from TJ Max.  There is another here and loads more here.  Donna even has a collection of dress form rubber stamps which you can see here.  And take a look at the one that Vicki Chrisman altered here.

Looking for one to alter yourself?  Check out Creative Imaginations “Bare Elements” collection.  They have two styles available: a 12″ one here and a 16″ one here.  (One is shown below left).  Ikea sells an “Artist’s Dummy” here, which is a movable wooden doll form.  I can imagine that this could be altered up similarly if you cannot locate a traditionally shaped dress form.  (See it below right).
