Gretchen Schmidt

gretchenschmidtheadshotnew.jpgGretchen Schmidt has been published in many publications from Paper Trends, to Cards magazines. She is also won many contests. (For a full list, please see her resume). Gretchen is an online instructor for Big Picture Scrapbooking. She is also a Design Team member for Maridawn’s Scrapbooking.

Gretchen is a full time mom that has made scrapbooking “part of my everyday lifestyle since 1999. Scrapping for me is an all day process, I normally try to get something pulled (photos and paper) gretchenschmidteveryday-aytr-mar07.jpgearly in the morning and then work on a layout/project on and off throughout the day. There is never a set time… just when I have time.” Other hobbies are altered projects, stamping, and “I can crochet one heck of an afghan!”

Gretchen lives in Katy, Texas (just west of Houston) but would love to move to the Kansas City area to be closer to family. She is happily married to a very supportive man who is also patient about her scrapbooking habit. “He’s even been known to make megretchenschmidtblizzard-beach-mini-book-a2.jpg shelving units for extra storage!” Gretchen is a “proud mama to three kiddos! I’ve got one daugher, Kenna, who is 13 (who loves the violin and dreams of going to Julliard), an almost 12 year old son, Nathan, (who has a twisted sense of humor just like is father and is to smart for his own good!), and a five year old son, Drew (who keeps our life very busy and interesting to say the least!).”

Gretchen’s favorite recipe? “I love to make homeade pizza! I make a killer Buffalo Chicken Pizza.”

“The Boys” layout at left was also created by Gretchen

And finally, the answer to the question you’ve all been waiting for: Does Gretchen prefer to scrap standing up or sitting down? ……………. “I prefer standing, but if I have lengthy journaling to add to a page, sometimes I’ll sit for that.”
