About Angie

I am going to try to reveal a little of myself here. I am usually a private person and so this is a little out of my comfort zone! I am a SAHM to a 3 year old little boy named Lochlan and a newborn baby girl, Eireann. Along with my husband Todd, we live in Ontario, Canada. My formal training is in Fine Art and Advertising Design. I used to have my own mural painting business and painted murals on the walls and ceilings of many residential clients. When I stopped doing that, I went off into the work world where I became a project coordinator for a confectionary company. (Mmmm chocolate.) After I had Lochlan, I could just not bear going back to work so now I am a full-time mom.

I first became interested in scrapbooking around 2003 when I came across a craft forum (now defunct). At first, I never clicked on the scrapbooking-related posts as my interests were in painting and sewing. I soon becametreasurechestcardsml.JPG intrigued however, when I saw that the scrapbooking forum section was getting way more posts than the ones I was viewing! I finally discovered the beautiful and creative layouts that these talented ladies were creating and became inspired. Now I love to use my scrapbooking supplies to make mixed media creations like mini books, altered items, collages, layouts and any combos of these. I also love to add in non-traditional scrapbooking supplies such as polymer clay, sewing, fabrics, painting, bits of vintage ephemera, etc. into my work.

I find my inspiration in old travel pictures, vintage ephemera, pictures of my kiddilies as well as all the talented people on our blogroll. I’m am constantly and pleasantly surprised by the sheer creativity and skill found in this great group of people. My MenThey are constantly reigniting my passion for scrapping so whenever I need some inspiration, I scan down the blogroll and am soon digging out my supplies and creating again. Thanks, ladies, for all the inspiration!

Tidbits About Me:

- My better-half, Todd, begrudgingly supports my scrapbooking habit. Monetarily he has, whether he knows this or not! LOL! As long as I let him watch a little hockey now and then, he leaves me alone about scrapbooking. Actually, Todd helps out with some of the behind the ‘Scenes’ stuff - website management and promotion.

lochiedoingcrafts.JPG- Our son Lochlan, is often referred to as “the wee lad”, or just “the boy.” He is a joy in our lives and keeps us incredibly busy! His current interests are Shrek, Bob the Builder and Thomas the Train. He is the only grandson (and grandchild #1)  for both sides of the family, so you can just imagine how the grandparents, auntie and uncles spoil him! He loves to make crafts too and has his own set of rubber stamps and a washable stamp pad - all from the dollar store! He also loves to use deco scissors to cut things out and glue them onto my scrap paper with a glue stick.

- Eireann, “The Wee Lass,” is our newest addition.  She is just 9 wks old (at the time of this update - Jan ‘08).  We adore her sweet face and love her emerging personality - 2008_0113image0008sml.JPGthere is also lots of smiling and cooing now, which is so fun to see!  Finally I get to scrap using pink and florals!

- My favourite recipe would have to be my French Canadian Grandma’s ‘Sauce a la Cassonade’ over ice cream (email me for the recipe if you want it) ; a dinner favourite would have to be lasagna. But, ask me tomorrow and I may have a different answer!

- I prefer to scrap standing up.

- I do most of my creating in the evenings when Todd is home to help watch the kiddoes, or during naptime.

- Other hobbies I have: sewing, painting & drawing (not so much lately), reading, and surfing crafty blogs.
