Part Two of Painting a Face Video

Ok, part two of my video on painting a face has finally uploaded. :) I hope you enjoy it.The portrait is actually not quite finished yet, but I tend to jump around from painting to painting. So, far now, I'll call it done.

I am also working on an online class, so will let you know when that is ready.

Thanks for watching!  P.S. Part One can be seen here.

    Love this Angie!
Do you use a photo reference? Each one of yours has a unique look… Wonderful work!
Also, im curious about your color palette… Esp that darkest brown you use… Its so natural for shading.. Is it out of tube or do you mix colors??
    Thanks,
    Kim

Hi Kim – this one did not have a photo reference, but often I do refer to various face parts of different faces found in magazines.

Regarding the colour palette, I do mix colours together. For example, the darkest areas have burnt umber and black mixed together. Also I use yellow ochre, red, titanium buff, and white gesso and mixtures from those colours. For the underpainting stage, I go a lot wider in my colour palette selections.

I love how this face turned out. The shading is really good! I thought that maybe it was a real person that you know, like your husband.

Thanks, Marfa. Nope, it’s nobody I know. :) This one was made up.
