‘Scary Supper’ Halloween Food Ideas

This is a little off-topic from scrapbooking, but I wanted to share with you some food items we made yesterday for a "Scary Supper" we hosted for our family.  These ideas were inspired from Pinterest and they turned out so well.

Below are 'finger food' which are actually cookies we made in the shape of fingers.  The fingernails are made from almond slices and the shading was done with cocoa powder. The finger creases were done with a toothpick.  I am partial to the fingers that had broken and chipped nails!  (You can find the sugar cookie recipe here and here.)

The second item we served was a meatloaf shaped to look like a severed hand. The 'bone' in the wrist is actually an onion and the fingernails were made from slices of onions.  The 'blood' is just ketchup. I just used my standard meatloaf recipe for this, but cooked it on a cookie sheet on a parchment paper.  (Once it was cooked, the oils had come out around it, so I carefully transferred it to another shallow dish.)

We also served 'brains' which was cauliflower and a tomato juice that looked like blood.

The place cards we made by setting the cards into glow-in-the-dark fake teeth.

Hope you enjoy this little stray from our usual posts!
