Don't throw out your old jars! There are so many things you can do with them. I have been loving the look of these 'memory jars' that have been popping up all over. Such a great idea for displaying some photos and memorabilia or simply to alter into something pretty. (Lots of these were found on Pinterest!)
Simply pop some pretty black and white photos into old jars for a nice mantle display like this one from Yankee Magazine.

Also, take a look at this project by artist Kirsty Hall, "365 Jars." For every day in 2011, she is "releasing an art jar into the wild." The one below reminds me that chalkboard paint would probably work on a jar as well…
