Noell Hyman, host of Paperclipping, shares some of her thoughts about trends for 2011. As with fashion and decor trends, they have a way of coming around to scrapbooking in one form or other. Noell recently wrote an article for Paperclipping on the subject of scrapbooking and fashion trends. Below is an excerpt.
Amid all of the different vintage eras, including a bit of 80′s influence (skinny jeans are the new stretch jeans), we’re just now starting to see some trends from the 90′s! I’m definitely not saying that all of fashion will emulate 90′s fashion. I’m just saying that that decade is having its influence in a few ways, and thankfully, with a whole new twist.
Here’s a quick list of what we’re already seeing and what we’re about to start seeing –
- massive hair accessories
- one-piece outfits
- small, tight floral patterns
Small floral prints: At left, "Ellie's Tale", by Sassafras; At right, "Posie Way", by SEI
- traditional, conservative, feminine florals
Traditional florals: Left, "Country Estate" by Webster's Pages; Right, "Je t'adore" by Making Memories
- a softer and brighter version of jewel tones
- fashion vests that are about form, not function
- plaids in feminized forms
These aren't necessarily feminine plaids, but here are some plaid samples: Left, "Rocket Age", by October Afternoon; Right, " Laced with Grace" by Glitz Designs
