Advent Calendar Ideas

It's not too late to whip up an advent calendar for this holiday season.  It's day 2 so you'll have to open up a couple though!  Here are a few ideas to inspire:

Rachel Tucker tells us about the advent calendar she made below: "The bags are stitched from Calico and then the embellishments are stitched on or glued using a fabric glue.  I’ve used lots of vintage bits, scrapbooking items and treasures that I’ve collected over the last few years.  We fill the little pockets with chocolates, small gifts and notes."  See more photos here.

Marina Simakova made the advent calendar shown below.  Learn more here.

i remember that as a kid every year i had such a calendar which had little pieces of chocolate inside. After dinner i was allowed to eat the piece of chocolate from that day.

I honestly never knew what an advent calendar was until last year. I think they are such a neat way to count down to the holidays. So far you’ve got some great ideas up here. Can’t wait to see more!
