I was lucky enough to snag one of Maya Road's new pennant-shaped canvas albums. I just love anything that combines fabric and scrapbooking! It came with two metal clips for closure along the left hand side. I decided to take them out and turn it into a banner / wall hanging instead. I found additional book rings/clips at Staples to attach them all together.
To make the lettering, you could easily use your Cricut Expression to cut out a pattern of the font you prefer. I was being a little lazy, so I winged it and just cut out the lettering with a pair of scissors instead. A little wonkiness never hurt anyone!

Once the lettering was cut out, just pin it to the canvas. Use embroidery thread (3 strands) to stitch around the edges. I think this stitch is called a backstitch.

For the extra panels that flanked the word, "Home," I stitched on some little embellishments I already had premade in my embellishment bin.
You can see my easy ruffle tutorial here. For the leaf, I cut out a shape from fabric (in double) and then added a piece of quilt batting in between and stitched around the edges.
Finis!

That is so cute. . .
Adorable! I’m thinking a felt or burlap banner would be cute, too, but the pre-finished Maya Road canvas pages can’t be beat for simplicity! Thanks for sharing!
