New Book – 1000 Artist Journal Pages

dawndevriessokol1000artistjournalpages.jpgDawn DeVries Sokol, creator of Art Journal Fridays, has just released a book last month called, “1000 Artist Journal Pages.” Subtitled, “Personal Pages and Inspirations,” this book is sure to inspire. There are 320 pages and full-colour photos of 1000 different art journal pages from countless different artists.

An art journal is the next logical step in the art world for a scrapbooker. You can use many of the same materials, supplies and tools plus throw in some photos if you like. The main difference is, freedom! Art journals are no-holds-barred. There are no rules. You can design an art journal page in whatever fashion you like. Many people find making an art journal cathartic. Your page comes from you and there is no pressure to conform to outside influences or trends.

So, if you have been intrigued by art journals and would like to get started on one of your own, you’ll want to check out this book. If you are already an art journaler, this book is filled with inspiration to entice you to take the time to sit down in your studio, paints in hand and create some more great pages!

I agree that art journals are the logical progression for scrapbookers who have discovered their creative muse! I know that is the way I’m headed. thanks for an interesting blog and for promoting more ‘arty’ sites etc.

    Hi Angie,

Art Journals are really interesting – my missus has one and I have one for work – I design fireplaces, so I keep a record of all my sketches and ideas…

They are helpful because it’s a working record – you can use it to assess mistakes that have been made in designs and find ways of improving, by retracing your steps!

I you don’t have one of these then you can’t do it… My missus has all her sketches in that she use to make paintings out of – I mean like from one idea, she could get several painting out of it..

    Anyway, interesting article..

    Buck
