I like sketches! I have a book that I keep my favorites in, filed by numbers of photos. If I don’t find one I want to use, or my book isn’t handy, I just play with the layout or adapt a inspired layout to the photos. I have also made layout in advance and filled the pictures in later!

I like sketches. They are a great starting place for a layout, or inspiration when I get stuck in the middle of a page.
I enjoy making my own sketches for cards and sometimes layouts. It moves the design process along, and I can do it without being with my supplies.

  3. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

Oh, cool! I love sketches and use them (or lift the “sketch” of someone else’s layout) for pretty much every page I make.

I’ve never made my own sketch, but I save tons of them (including the ones from Valerie’s site) on my computer and go through them when I’m making a page.

I LOVE sketches! Definitely gets me started and sets me off in a certain direction for my layout. But, I’m a new scrapper, so I really could use this class to help me interpret sketches!

I like sketches… I use Becky Fleck and Becky Higgins mostly, but I am always looking for more!

Oh… and CPS too for cards…

Wow, this would be so exciting!!!! I also check out sketches, especially if the mojo isn’t working – it helps with the creativity. I love Becky Higgins and Valerie Salmon’s sketches. They are wonderful sources of inspiration. These classes would be wonderful! Thanks for the opportunity.

Oh yeah I am loving sketches! Even more so lately since there are so many cool sketch blogs with lots of different interpretations of how artists are making sketches their own. I tend to be very literal and used to feel confined by sketches but seeing how others use them has helped me loosen up and use them more.

  10. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

I love using sketches! I keep an altered comp book as my inspiration book and I have my fave sketches in there :)

  11. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

I like to look at sketches for inspiration and convert that inspiration into a “sketch” using CDS.

  12. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

I have my layout sketches organized by # of photos & by sketch developer (Valerie, Becky Fleck, and my own, etc.) I usually turn to my sketch binder if I’m stuck for an idea. Or if I know I need to scrap the memory but am not motivated to. I usually start with my photos for a LO. I then pick papers, embellie’s, & make a rough journaling outline. Then I just play until I like the result. Sometimes, the story is what’s important & then I start with the story, then pick papers, embellie’s & pics if avail. Sometimes my process leads me to sketch out the possible LO’s first.

I love sketches – I pull them out of magazines and off the internet. They are a great jumpstart for me and I think they give enough just guidance while allowing lots of room for my own interpretation and embellishments. I took Val’s Sketch 101 and LOVED it, and if I don’t win I’m going to sign up for 102 on my own, cause it’s worth it!

  14. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

I love sketches! I don’t tend to use them all that often, but I find that looking at them inspires me as much as looking at finished layouts. When I work without a sketch, my photo placement is determined by the supplies I’m using and by the photos themselves, but using a sketch helps me when I get in a rut.

  15. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

LOVE sketches! I used to try the CK sketches, but was never all that successful with them, so I avoided even looking at them. I kept my own little inspiration book of sketches and starting points (color combos, title treatment ideas, etc) but it wasn’t very extensive. Then, something clicked for me when I found the PageMaps site. Now I am addicted to sketches. If I don’t have an idea immediately, I turn to some of my favorite sketch sites to get started. What a time saver! I used to sometimes mull over a concept for hours or days before getting started. Now I get started right away.

  16. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

I love, love sketches, they inspire me so much. I am always looking at the sites that offer sketch challenges to get some ideas for my layouts. There are times, when I draw my own, but it sure makes it easy to work with the ones that are already available. Not to mention the great samples with some of them, too. I would love to win this class, as I love both lady’s work very much and have followed them for years. I am crossing my fingers, that I will be one of the winners…hehehe. Thank you!!!

I like sketches, especially for scrapping at crops, where inspiration seems to desert me. They also remind you to use shapes and techniques which you’d forgotten about. This e-course looks really great – a source for some scrapping inspiration!

  22. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

Most of the time I need a sketch to start. Certainly when I use more then one picture. Sometimes I only use the journaling and title spot of a sketch. Another time I can get inspired by the placement of embellishments…
I joined in their 101 Sketch class but didn’t manage to finish it all because of other commitments but I certainly would like to join in the 102 class :)

Sketches are great for really lazy uncomplicated scrapping days. I try and do a sketch for an idea in my head, but the end result does not always work out the way I sketched it. I have a very good friend who does my sketches once I have done the layouts and she is a pro!!!!

I love sketches, I’ve used Becky Higgins sketches for a long time and recently got the Page Maps book. I have also been using the Page Maps website for a while. Sometimes I do my own sketches, but not very often. Based on the number of photos, the length of my journaling and how I want my layout to feel determines how I put my layout together. I usually move everything around several time beforel I feel it is the way I want it to look.

I use sketches almost all of the time. I never design my own, I don’t have that talent. Although I am certainly comfortable to tweak things so that it works with my pages and photos. Being a primarily 8 1/2 x 11 scrapper I don’t have much choice but to be able to adjust :). If I don’t use a sketch, then my process is to keep moving things around until I like them. Usually I crop the pictures first, select paper and just start putting things down -not with adhesive. It either comes together quickly or not at all. No inbetween.

  26. Erin Glee
Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

I don’t usually use sketches when I scrapbook. I pick the photos out and grab a solid cardstock and a PP or two that coordinate with them, and then crop and arrange the pictures until I’m happy, them I get out the adhesive, stick ‘m down, then embellish a little~done! I like to put a lot of pictures on a page…I have way too many to do to put ONE on a page!

I would love to win a spot in this class. I have a whole collection of sketch’s (mostly Becky Fleck) that I page through when I need help getting my pictures on a page. I have tried making my own sketches, but I mostly just go for it.

It’s been so long since I’ve done a full layout. I’ve been in a rut and this class would be wonderful to kickstart my 12″ life again. I usually keep a notebook and jot down ideas I come across or print up layouts I love and paste them into the book. Mostly I end up just working off the top of my head with very little planning.

  29. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

I use sketches for inspiration. Most often I use them as a starting point and will end up with something totally different.

Hello everybody… I usually do my own sketches or work in a page “from scratch” and this is because most of the time I work a layout depending on the photos and want to create things according to a story. However, I’ve used sketches before (for gifts without photos and when need to be more time-efficient) and it’s really nice because it is easier and faster to work the pages. Sketches are definitely a great tool.

  39. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

    I use sketches for inspiration….
I use them as a starting point and will end up with pages totally different…

So is that considered my own sketch?

I could really use a free class..
    Pick me….

I am a sketch fan, when I staretd scrapping a few years ago I never used tham and I would wonder why I didn;t like my layouts. I was introduced to them a year ago and I love them. I use them as a starting point and add my own twist. I keep fav sketches in my own little book for future reference. I would love to win a spot in this class.

I love sketches too! I use them a lot. Even though my layouts sometimes turn out totally different, I start with a sketch of sorts–mine or one from online and/or book sources.

It would be so awesome to take this class–I need all the help/inspiration I can get (after 5 years of scrapping desert dirt bike races, I have just about run out of ideas for layouts!!!)

Thanks for the chance to win

I almost always start with sketches for my layouts. Although the end result doesn’t always look like the sketch, it at least gives me an idea of where to start. Sketches are very much an inspirational tool in my scrapbooking process! I’ve never taken a scrapbookin class before, so I thought this would be a great class to start with!

Sometimes inspiration just comes to me like POOF!!! For the other 75% of the time, I use sketches. I have a book that I store my own sketches as well as other inspiration in for those times when my brain is stuck in park. If I don’t use a sketch, I create a layout based on whatever I have been inspired by at the moment…the junk mail or the milk carton!

  53. Posted 6 years, 2 months ago | Permalink

Yes!!! I do use sketches all the time and I LOVE THEM!!! (My own and others) If I don’t use a sketch, I’ll print out my pictures in the sizes I like of each and then move them around on the paper to where I would like them. From there, I “design” the page around them, placing things where they “fit”.

I love using sketches. For a time poor scrapper, they just provide the perfect starting point. No more procrastinating for me. :) I love that I can start with the sketch and take it in my own direction – the sketches totally free up my creativity which seems to be lost if I start without them.
