The Challenge: You’ve been seeing a lot of new trends popping up in the world of scrapbooking for 2008. We, at ScrapScene, have also been posting a lot about them recently. (You can see some links in the “Inspiration” section below.) For this contest, we are challenging you to create a scrapbooking or paper crafting project that reflects one or more of these trends. Some ideas you can select from are mentioned below, or perhaps there is another trend that we didn’t mention. You can make a scrapbook layout, a mini book, an altered item, or whatever else you decide. This contest is pretty wide open, so show us what you can do. The project does not have to be brand new, you can submit an entry that you have made earlier, no problem. Entries will be judged on overall appeal as well as creativity. One grand prize will be awarded as well as five runner up prizes. Let’s see what you can come up with!

————————————————————————————–

Inspiration: Need some inspiration? Take a look at some of these ideas to give you some mojo for creating a scrapbook project using a new trend:

Woodgrain, deer, owls, birds, trees, crowns, chandeliers, silhouettes, bingo cards, cartoons, hybrid, cupcakes, environmental themed, bold/bright colours, black and white, retro kitsch, fabric, new twists on paper piecing, the grunge look, vintage/retro look, altering home decor furniture (& walls, etc.), embroidery, scrapbooking on plastic, botanicals, new patterns like argyle/harlequin or houndstooth, office inspired products, or perhaps there is another trend that you’ve been noticing that we didn’t mention!

For further reference, see our 3 part series on trends for 2008 with commentary from various well-known industry experts here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

Also, additional trends posts can be seen here.

—————————————————————————————-

How to Enter: You can enter up to 3 projects. To enter, email a photo of your project to us at [email protected] and we will post it up in our onsite contest gallery for you. ** Please do not submit anymore than 3 photos of your project and please try to keep photos under 150 kb each.** In the email subject line, please put “Truly Trendy.” As well, please include a little information about your project. i.e. what is the trend(s) that your project incorporates, what is the project (a layout, mini book, an altered ?what?), and the approximate size. Also, please include your state/province and country of residence and your blog address if you have one. (This last point has no bearing on the contest results but better able to serve us when writing up the announcement post of winners!) To view contest entries as they come in, you can go to our gallery (soon to be published). (All entries will be acknowledged via email within a few days of receipt. Please also give us a couple of days to upload your photos into the gallery).

—————————————————————————————-

Rules: Anyone residing in any country can enter up to 3 projects. No more than 3 photos per project please. By submitting, you agree to ScrapScene displaying your entry on our website. If you require us to take it down for a future submission elsewhere, please let us know and we will do so. There is no cash value awarded in lieu of a prize. Sponsors have the right to make substitutions for a prize of equal value, if required. Once the winners are announced, the decisions are final.

—————————————————————————————

Deadline: Deadline for all entries is Wednesday, April 30th, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Once the deadline has been reached, we will select one winner based on creativity and overall appeal. Entries will be judged by ScrapScene with input from various scrapbook industry experts. On Monday, May 5th, 2008 one grand prize winner plus 5 runners up will be announced.
