Handmade Valentine Card a Day – Day 2

valentineday2.JPGWelcome to day 2 of our handmade Valentine a Day feature. To view yesterday’s Valentine, please click here.  This tag is very simple to make.  It’s just about layering your pieces together.

Supplies
Vintage Valentine (see below), pompom ribbon, ribbon, flower embellishment, 2 pieces of patterned paper, printed twill or ribbon

Tools
Paper trimmer or scissors, adhesive, hole punch

1. Download and print off the girl from this vintage Valentine, free from Garden Fairy, (or use a similar one – and there are lots more here).

2. Download and print off a tag from Jessica Sprague’s free digital scrapbooking kit here. You may want to print off several of these tags as we will be using them again as a base for other Valentines.

3. We printed the downloads on a Epson Stylus RX680 printer/scanner. This printer does a great job at printing clearly. You can read more about it in our last Valentine Card a Day post.

4. Cut out a round tag from the digi kit and the girl from the vintage Valentine download.valentineday2closeup.JPG Also cut out two pieces of patterned paper: one in the shape of a heart and one to fit vertically down the tag.  Cut the vertical piece with deco scissors like pinking shears.

5. Ink edges using a brown stamp pad.

6. Use adhesive to attach patterned paper to tag. Attach vintage girl to top.

7.  Glue on a piece of printed twill or ribbon.

8.  Glue pompom ribbon to bottom portion of tag.

9.  Punch hole in top of tag and feed a piece of ribbon through it.

10.  Use black marker to write on a Valentine sentiment.
