This is a project my sister-in-law hired me to do for a friend of hers. I used photos of their brand new baby girl. All the photos are from the day she was born and the day after.
I started out with a K&Co Life’s Journey tag album in black (see photo below left) that I got at Hobby Lobby for $1.74 marked down. (Yes, you read that correctly.) I thought about altering the cover somehow, but my time was very limited (2 days!) so I decided to make a stark contrast with the black cover and used pink Lil Davis letter stickers to put the baby’s name on the front.
The book has chipboard covers, but the inside pages (there are 10 I think) are just nice cardstock type paper in kraft color. I don’t really like the kraft so I covered all the pages back and front with mostly Making Memories coordinating patterned papers, I have had forever, and scraps of cardstock or solid papers.
These pages are not very big (maybe 4″ x 4.5″), so it was harder than I thought to decide where to place the pictures and what embellishments to add that wouldn’t take away from the pictures. To make it easier on myself, I did it differently than I normally would. I would usually do one page at a time, but this time I decided to cover all the pages with paper first. Then I used double-sided tape and put down all the photos at the same time. When that was done, I went back and individually added ribbons, flowers, jewels, rubons, stickers, etc., to all the pages.
Also there were SO MANY photos to choose from and this baby is SO CUTE that I had a really hard time narrowing it down. So, to get more pictures on the pages, I used a 1.5 inch circle punch to punch some of them out so I could actually squeeze 2 photos on 1 page.
These books come with a twine fiber type of thing holding them together. It goes through the middle of the book. I didn’t like that so I removed it and then carefully threaded a ribbon through the holes in the covers and pages and tied it in a bow. I had a little crown charm, so I used a safety pin to attach it to the tied ribbon. There is also a button and string enclosure to open and close the book (where the string wraps around the button to keep the book closed) and it has a tiny tag attached to it. I left that on there and put a pink Prima flower on one side of the little tag and wrote the baby’s name on the other side of the tag.
