Jennie Yeo, from Singapore, is our Guest Blogger for this post. In this article, Jennie shares an altered treasure box that she created to hold notes from her husband and tiny little gifts that are very dear to her. (Click photos to enlarge.)
This little treasure box was created using the Provo Craft tin rectangle box. It makes a great little storage container for keeping little love notes, greeting cards or tiny gifts received from your loved ones (which in this case, that’s the purpose of this altered box that I’ve created) or to store small supplies like brads, beads, buttons, stickers, photographs, travel tickets, or a mini book created from your recent trip, or just as a gift box to be given away. The idea of this altered box was inspired from a LSS – Laines Papeterie which is also the place that I’ve purchased this tin from. I believe you could get a tin like this from your LSS near your location too.
I’ve painted the box in a light blue-green color and mod podged it with pretty patterned paper from Melissa Frances. There is also adhesive ribbon with brad around the tin and a piece of distressed zip jaw piece that is covered with tiny little scrap pieces from Artchix and scrap patterned paper. The hand-made flower was created using the Prima patterned paper while the rest of the embellishments, like brads, buttons, metal pieces are from various brands like Far Flung Craft, 7G, MM etc. Lastly, to give this box an old vintagey look, I also used adhesive to apply some old vintage scrabble alpha tiles on it, as it’s purpose was to store little love notes which I received more than 10 years ago from my dear husband.
