For the announcement on who won our “Totally Transparent” contest, please click here. We thought it also worth highlighting a few people as honourable mentions. These entries made our decision very difficult! Take a look in the gallery if you haven’t already done so. In no particular order, they are:
Moniek Jannink‘s Mini Album (above left): We loved how Monique used contrasting materials in her mini book. i.e. the rugged look of corrugated cardboard and the clean look of metal rings and clear plastic transparencies.
Joanne‘s “Power of Love” layout (right): Joanne scrapped her layout directly onto a 12″x12″ transparency. We loved the intricacy of her scrapbook page. There is just so much detail involved creating not just a beautiful layout, but also a wonderfully recorded memory.
Charrie Shockey‘s “Family Ties” Mini Album (left): We loved Charrie’s unique technique for this 5″x7″mini book! Charrie made it out of thin plexiglass that she cut herself. She tells us that she scored it first with an x-acto knife, then broke it along that line. “I actually used my Kai scissors to curve the edges and my Cropadile to make the holes for the velvet ribbon.” Charrie used rub-ons on her plexiglass and also sanded the edges for a very cool distressed look.
Mabelle Rubia’s “Paradise Found” Layout (below right): Mabelle’s two layouts were stunning, but we selected this one for an honourable mention as the depth created by the transparency and the background plus the colours were just too pleasing to pass up!
Tammy Kay’s “Grace” Layout (below right): Tammy created such a beautiful layout using fabric and sewing right onto the transparency. Love the combination!
Katie Squires‘ “It’s a Girl Thing” Mini Album (below left): Katie used 4″x6″ transparent frames fom MME as her base for this mini book. We love the colours and texture that is all a part of this album!
