Silver Bella Interviews – Part 3!

silverbellasbinstructweblist.jpg

As you are probably aware, the Silver Bella event is taking place November 9th and 10th in Omaha, Nebraska. We’ve been posting mini interviews with the instructors. To read the previous ones, click here for Teresa McFayden and Rebecca Sower. For Charlotte Lyons and Jennifer Paganelli, click here. Below are Pam and Carolyn’s answers. We’ll be posting more of the artist’s responses in upcoming posts, so keep your eyes peeled! (Don’t forget to see the sneak peek links at the bottom of each interview!)

Pam Garrison

How did you all get together for this event?

The fab Miss Foof (Teresa McFayden) invited me!

How would you describe your style?

[My style is] a little bit of lots of things-paper, fabric, embellishments etc. – a fresh take on vintage? imperfect,  playful!

What one thing would you like for your students to take from your class(es)?

A passion for creating, permission to make it their way- to personalize their art, how fun it can be to mix old and  new.

If you weren’t an artist/designer, what occupation would you be in?

Oh boy, lots of things: a decorator, an actress, shopkeeper, always a  dreamer!

What other hobbies are you involved in?

Flea marketing, gardening, journaling, home decorating, again-dreaming.

What snack food item do you always have on hand for those long creating sessions?

Ice cold Diet Pepsi always.  For a rare treat some good-n-plentys  (sp?) or bubblegum (can’t take myself too seriously when chewing bubblegum!).

Carolyn Peeler

How did you all get together for this event?

I was delighted to be asked back this year after participating in the
event last year.

How would you describe your style?

Definitely Vintage Shabby. Anything old, timeworn and well-loved gets
me very excited.

What one thing would you like for your students to take from your class(es)?

I always hope to inspire in some way a love of creating. Each of us hold the possibility to express ourselves in a creative capacity. It is my hope that in every class I teach I share that creative spark with each student.

If you weren’t an artist/designer, what occupation would you be in?
I’d love to be a travel writer. But more than likely I would be a
teacher.

What other hobbies are you involved in?

I currently enjoy reading and playing the piano, but like many creative people I have also been obsessed at one time or another with country/tole painting, stitcheries, making primitive snowmen, sewing, etc…

What snack food item do you always have on hand for those long creating sessions?

You know what, I never eat while scrapbooking!
