This contest has probably been the most difficult thing we have ever had to judge especially because judging beauty is such a subjective thing! There were SO many beautiful and creative flowers submitted to our “Create a Flower” contest. We would like to thank each and every person who took the time to create a flower project and submit it to our first ever contest. (Take a look at all the beautiful flower ‘eye candy’ here). We would also like to especially thank our sponsors, Scrap Magie and Scrapbook Bakery, who without their generous donations, we would not have had such a great prize to give away! Watch for future contests as we have more in the works!
We could have easily picked more than one winner, but there is only one grand prize, so without further adieu…..
Nathalia Castellon is our winner for her flower on the layout, “Dream”– We loved this flower! The colors Nathalia chose were so soft and pretty and we love the textures and layers as well the glitter and the glass bead she added to the center. Nathalia’s other two submissions, “Embellishment Studio Ribbon Flower” and “Los Dos Amigos” show us just how talented and skilled she is at this craft. Nathalia, we will be contacting you for your address and to book a spotlight interview!
We want to note a few other beautiful creations that caught our eye (in no particular order):
Jeanne McKinney‘s “Life is a Picture.” We loved how Jeanne cut her flower out of various patterned papers and layered it to give a 3 dimensional effect. The outlining of the petals added to the definition and we also love that she added a yoyo flower and button to the top. The flower and colors Jeanne chose go very well on her layout and the extra flowers really bring the project together. Check out Jeanne’s other lovely submissions: “Bloom” and “Kindred.”
Mimi Leinbach’s “Sweet Spring” – we are still trying to figure out what she used for the center of the flower! This was just such a gorgeous flower and we loved the stitching and crumpled effect plus the colors and papers she used on her layout were so soft and pretty.
Scraphead’s “Love, Look, and Listen” – Scraphead’s flower was another beautiful entry. We loved the fringed edges and how she layered fibers behind the flower plus how she used such rich jewel tones in the colors she selected. Her layout is also stunning and flows so well with the curves acting as stems for the flower.
Lisa Pace‘s Ribbon Flowers – Who couldn’t love Lisa’s ribbon yo-yo flowers? The whole effect of the flower with the embellishments she selected make for such a pleasing wall hanging. All of Lisa’s entries were equally as stunning.
Kara Ward‘s “Paper Posies” – Kara’s flower bouquet is just beautiful! There was obviously a lot of detail put into this arrangement and we can’t not mention it! If you didn’t notice, Kara also altered the window box packaging that some of her flowers came in – you can see it here.
We could go on and on with so many beautiful entries, as there was something about each and every one that drew us in. Thank you again to everyone who entered and to our sponsors!
