Ali Edwards Interviewed on Digital Scrapbooking Talk Radio

Listen to an interview with Ali Edwards on Digital Scrapbooking Talk Radio . If you don’t get a chance, here are a few highlights (note, a lot of the questions asked are similar to those from a recent online chat hosted by CK – you can read my summary of that interview here):

  • she tells about a ‘fan moment’ where someone jumped out excitedly when they saw her checking into a hotel at a CKU event
  • she is inspired by “life in general” and loves to scrap the everyday moments
  • art journalling is something that Ali would like to do more of but has difficulty finding the time right now
  • top things she can’t scrap without are: her computer (i.e. journalling, photo retrieval), x-acto knife and cutting board, and plain cardstock
  • her CK Fonts cd features her handwriting
  • “A Designers Eye for Scrapbooking” came out in ’04 and is based on the idea of getting scrapbookers to look at basic design principles in a user friendly way
  • “A Designers Eye for Scrapbooking with Patterned Paper” is based on the philosophy of having fun with it and not making it complicated; it mixes all kinds of papers from all kinds of manufacturers; sketches are shown on the page to show how you can build the page from there; the books are available from Creating Keepsakes websites
  • Ali uses PS2 for photo enhancements and uses other peoples’ digital embellishments; so far she hasn’t used it to create her own digital elements, however, her background is in graphic design so she is well versed in the use of computers; Ali is a MAC user and is excited about the possibilities available for scrapbookers
  • Ali uses a digital camera and appreciates the “instant gratification” that she gets from being able to upload and view or print them right away
  • other artists who inspire her include some of her closest friends like Cathy Zielske and Donna Downey; Ali is also inspired by online galleries and mixed media artists like Sabrina Ward Harrison
  • Ali’s term “Life Artist” came by way of her trying to find another way of describing the “scrapbooking” craft; she felt like it needed a different name since it “encompasses so much more”; Ali sells t-shirts, spiral bound journals, buttons and other products with her “Life Artist” slogan on it through her Cafe Press store
  • Ali just bought a microphone for her computer and is toying with the idea of posting podcasts through her blog; she is also using it for the online classes she is working on for CKU Home Study
  • Ali’s favorite eye color is brown, she prefers pedicures over manicures, sand over snow, flipflops over tennis shoes, taking a nap over sleeping in, salmon over prime rib, denim jeans over khaki slacks, blackberry pie over chocolate cake, and a MAC over a PC
