- to help refine and speed up her scrapbooking process, one of the tips Ali gives is to keep a small journal available as you are going about your day; she keeps one in her car as well as in the kitchen; she uses it to “jot down page ideas, thoughts that jump into your head about colors/photos”
- Ali also suggests making your own page kits when you have time; she uses envelopes or page pockets from Cropper Hopper to hold the supplies for a page such as “papers, photos, embellishments, etc.”
- Ali likes getting quotes from Inspiration Peak and considers this site one of her favorites
- Ali often arranges her photos in Photoshop prior to completing a layout
- another artform that interests Ali is art journaling and mixed media books; she mentions artists such as Claudine Hellmuth, Gloria Page and Sabrina Ward Harrison
- when asked about her stamps, Ali says that she gets them from all over the place since she travels so much; she “gravitates towards shape, text and date related stamps”; among her favorite stamp manufacturers, are: Catslife Press, Fontwerks, Savvy Stamps, Hero Arts, Stampin Up, and Paper Source
- Ali’s talks about how to get published, “Submit!”; “…we are always looking for layouts that tell a complete story… journaling, photography, solid design – and for layouts that are inspiring… cool use of a technique, beautiful photography, a different way to tell a story, etc.”
- products that Ali cannot create without include “white cardstock, photos, & (a) black pen”
- organization tips include purging, “go through and really assess what you have and what you really need”; Ali says that instead of being inspired by “all that stuff,” she is “stifled” by it; she groups and sorts things by manufacturer since she needs to keep track of that; she also suggests grouping by theme or product
- regarding patterned paper, Ali suggests buying what you really like and then when ready for scrapbooking, “cutting it up and using it in small quantities”; she recommends bringing patterns together by color or by style
- a trend that is hot right now according to Ali, is incorporating digital elements into paper scrapbook pages; she also sees people gravitating towards Stacy Julian‘s “Big Picture” theory and her own “Life Artist” philosophy and way of describing a scrapbooker
